Biography

Welcome to my personal website! I’m bassist, composer, and pianist, born 1983 in the Czech Republic.

In 2009/2010 I studied the bassguitar at the Jaroslav Jezek Jazz College in Prague. In 2011, I applied for the Berklee College of Music, and after the audition I was offered a significant scholarship. However, instead of attending the college, I spent three months in New York later in 2011, studying privately with Hans Glawishnig, John Patitucci, John Benitez, and others.

I’ve been honored to share the stage with some international jazz stars (Randy Brecker, Steve Smith, Vincent Mendoza, Bobby Shew) as well as great Czech pop-singers (Marta Kubišová, Karel Gott) and amazing Czech jazz musicians (so many!). Since 2013 I’ve been living in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) where I play with Ivan Habernal Quartet and other projects. In 2015, J-Sound Project was awarded the Frankfurter Jazzstipendium prize. In June 2015 I performed with Buddy Rich Big Band featuring Steve Smith (dr), Bobby Shew, Chuck Findley (tp), Charles M. Owens, Andy Fusco, and Pat LaBarbera (sax).

The gear: Fodera bass guitars (6-string Anthony Jackson Double Cutaway and 5-string Emperor fretless), Eden WT-880 amplifier and Schroeder-Cabinets 1212L and 10L. My double bass is a German piece from the 70′s with David Gage The Realist pick-up.
